Laura Chapot won HITS Grand Prix on Out of Ireland

SAUGERTIES, N.Y.--Laura Chapot of Neshanic Station, N.J., ended the HITS-on-the-Hudson Summer Series on a high note with a win in the $50,000 Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 4.

mailLaura Chapot on Out of IrelandChapot, riding Out of Ireland raced through the timers in 42.989 to produce the only double clear round to secure the win.

Madison Goetzmann on Prestigious finished second with 4 faults in 42.147, and Andrew Ramsay on Stranger 30 placed third with 4 faults in 48.396.

Chapot won a number of classes, and with different horses, throughout the series.

"It's incredible the way the horses went," said Chapot's mother Mary." We had a great show."

"We'll go the Andrew Philbrick's Princeton shows next with some young horses and then back to HITS for their final," said Mary Chapot. "Then to the Devon Fall Classic. We're so glad that's back."

 

CHAPOT also rose to the top of the standings on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 3, for her ride on Shooting Star in the $10,000 Jumper Classic.

A time of 43.394 secured the lead for this consistently fast team.

Not only did Chapot take top honors, but she also took home the other two positions in the top three, placing second on Umberto in 43.500 and third Zealous in 44.150.

Along with her wins, Chapot also had a number of seconds and thirds through the final week at HITS.

In the first featured jumper class, she finished third on Zealous with 4 faults in 37.909, behind winner Roberto Teran on Diabolo la Quadra in the $5,000 Open Welcome, who was clean in a time of 39.458, and second placed Declan Egan on Quointreau un Prince, owned by Laura Chapot and McLain Ward, who was clean in 41.092.

The second blue ribbon in the featured classes was awarded to Sarah Segal and Performance EP in the $10,000 HITS Jumper Classic on Thursday afternoon.

Segal raced through the timers in 39.100 to beat secon placed Chapot on Gideon who finished in 39.260,

A sweet victory, just clinching the lead in a time of 34.763, was awarded to David Raposa and Ilonia in the $25,000 Grand Prix, with Goetzmann placing second on Prestigious in 34.996, and Chapot placing third on Chandon Blue in 36.281.
