Dressage at Devon, largest open breed show in the world

DEVON, Pa--From Sept. 25 - 30, Dressage at Devon will host the largest open breed show in the world and a performance division that attracts some of the best riders and horses in the sport.

DAD Ellegria 89Ellegria 89Visitors enjoy some of the best food on the show circuit and more than 60 shops with everything from apparel and tack to fine art, jewelry, antiques, pottery and Dressage at Devon souvenirs.

Relax in The Pub with its closed circuit coverage of the competition, or take your refreshments to one of the outdoor seating areas.

And bring the kids on Sunday for Dressage Explorers with activities that all will enjoy, including a stick horse competition in the famed Dixon Oval and a selfie scavenger hunt.

Crescendo offers training in many disciplines

Crescendo Training Centre, LLC was founded in Ludington, Mich., in 1987.

Crescendo kada sh victoryWe opened our current location in Ephrata, Pa., in 2007.

Kriss Phelps, Trainer, and Rachael Wendel, Assistant Trainer, train horses and teach riders and drivers in many disciplines at our current location.

Crescendo competes horses to the national level in Dressage through Grand Prix level, Western Dressage through Level 4, Working Western (including Reining, Trail and Ranch Horse), Carriage Pleasure Driving as well as Showmanship and Western Horsemanship.

Kriss holds her USEF "R" National/Regional judges license for Arabians, "r" judge's license for Western Dressage.

She has also earned her USDF Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and is working towards earning her Musical Freestyles bars at all levels.

Crescendo also hosts Christine Betz Dressage clinics once monthly, year round.

2018 will be the first time Crescendo has co-hosted a USEF Rated show, with the Western Dressage Pennsylvania Championships being held at Crescendo on Sept. 9, 2018, co-hosted with Blue Goose Stable, LLC and Darcy Miller.

2018 will be the eighth year for Cresendo hosting the Jack Frost Jubilee Winter Show Series, with one show per month beginning in November and ending in March.

GLENMOORE, Pa--Over Labor Day Weekend, enjoy 75 Years of “Fun at the Crossroads” that  is Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show & Country Fair, at the intersection of routes 401 and 100 in Glenmoore, Chester County.

Many area families attend Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show & Country Fair annually, knowing it is a great way to wrap up summer.

TLudwigsC.Hoopes 4 in handhe country fair entertains all ages with Saturday’s Pet Parade sponsored by Lulu’s Rescue (animals in costumes from pet rabbits to alpacas; no fee to enter) with State Senator Andy Dinniman as the judge; rides (mechanical bull, bungee jump, rock wall among others); children’s games; creepy crawlers, llamas, alpacas, jumping bunnies, pony rides and dog agility; live music, craft beer by Stickman Brew and boutique vendors featuring unusual gifts and clothing.

There is even an antique tractor and car show and a Mounted Horse Archery demonstration.

Catering by Yellow Springs feeds the crowd with BBQ, hamburgers, hotdogs, grilled chicken, wraps, salads, stuffed portabella mushrooms and ice cream.

LudwigsC.Hoopes Hunter Rider 1Exciting equestrian action is featured in three competition rings all three days, easily seen from the midway and country fair above.

Riders of all ages from throughout the region compete at Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show & Country Fair each year, with events from Ladies Sidesaddle, Leadline for children, Hunter and Pony Derbies, and carriage driving.

The marquis event is the $7,500. Ludwig’s Corner Mini Prix on Monday starting at approximately 2:00.

This thrilling competition features regionally and nationally prominent riders and their horses at speed over tall jumps placed on a challenging course.

2018 George Morris Clinic in Westminster, Md., Aug. 31 to Sept. 2

WESTMINSTER, Md.--The George Morris Clinic in Westminster, will be held Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.

gmorrisphotoOur annual George Morris clinic is early this year due to the World Equestrian Games.

As always, we are looking forward to this wonderful clinic.

It is a great way to improve teaching and riding skills, in addition to overall horsemanship.

The day starts at 9 am with the 2’6”-3’ jumping group, followed by the 3’-3’6” group from 11-1pm, and The last group for 3’6” and up runs from 2-4pm.

Persimmon Tree Farm is located at 1030 Bloom Road, Westminster, Md., 21157-8006.

Persimmon Tree Farm provide a light breakfast and catered lunch.
