Jennifer MacNeill of East Petersburg, Pa., won the Action division of the 21st annual Photo Contest with a photo of Boyd Martin on Tsetseleg on cross country day at the Dutta Fair Hill CCI3* on Oct. 14.

MacNeill took the photo of Martin, who finished third on Tsetseleg at Fair Hill, with a Canon 5D Mark 3 camera.
"I've been taking pictures seriously for about five or six years," said MacNeill. "My biggest success so far is that I got a picture in National Geographic. It was a photograph of a 4H girl nestled with a cow."
The Horse's final print edition was the 2016 December issue, and The Horse Online was not begun until March of 2017, so there was no photo contest last year.
The Horse will continue to hold an annual Photo Contest every yeaar from now on.
PAM THOMPSON of Cochranville, Pa., finished second and third in the Action division with a photograph of a cowboy on a bucking bronco placing second and a photograph of four race horses in a turf race at Delaware park placing third.
Hold On The second placed photo, entitled "Hold On", was taken at the Cecil County Fair in Fair Hill, Md., which is held annually on the last weekend of July.
Thompson said there was no program, so she doesn't know the name of the cowboy or where he finished.
The third placed photo, entitled "On the Turf" was taken at Delaware Park last summer, but Thompson said she didn't know the names of the horses.
On The Turf
Thompson had placed first in the 2016 Photo Contest in two categories, winning the Best Pet/Animal division with a shot of two identically marked Chincoteague ponies grazing and the Best Candid photo with a shot of a child taking a nap on the back of a Longhorn steer.
"I've been taking photographs seriously just for the last couple of years, since I got a nice camera," said Thompson, who took these two photos with a Nikon 750 camera. "Right now, it's just a hobby, but someday I might do it seriously as a profession."
Additional Honorable Mention photographs will be featured throughout the month of January, with Candid Photos featured in February and Pet/Animal photos featured in March.
