From Flood to Fresh Start: Hay Pillow featured in Jenny & Jack’s Story

The two donkeys in the picture — Jenny on the left and her son Jack on the right — live at David Crockett Birthplace State Park in East Tennessee, where they help bring early American homestead life to visitors from around the world.

hayp 2Last year, Hurricane Helene devastated the park.

Their barn and pasture were completely lost in the flooding, and much of the park was wiped out.

For several months, the donkeys stayed at a generous local farm while recovery efforts began.

Today, they are finally back home at the park, currently living on a dry lot while a new three-acre pasture is being established.

In the meantime, finding the right feeding solution became important.

hayp1“We tried so many different feed nets and bags,” says Chelsea, who cares for the donkeys. “Then we found The Hay Pillow online!”

Ground-level feeding was important.

Jenny and Jack prefer to eat together, stretching naturally and moving from one feeder to another.

With two Hay Pillows placed around their dry lot, they can walk between them and eat side by side — just as they would in pasture.

hayp 3“I love that it simulates natural grazing and supports their topline,” Chelsea explains. “They can stretch and eat at ground level without leaving hay scattered in the dirt. Less waste, controlled feeding, and enrichment all in one bag.”

"For animals rebuilding alongside their park, it’s a simple solution that makes a meaningful difference," said Chelsea,
