DEVON, Pa.--Silva Martin on Farouche won the CDI1* FEI Prix St. Georges, on Friday, Sept. 25 at Dressage at Devon.

Martin took the lead late in the class with only three riders to go. scoring 70.941%.

Her polished, expressive ride drew cheers from the afternoon crowd as she exited the Dixon Oval patting her horse with a smile on her face and a wave to the onlooking crowd.

Farouche showed superior uphill balance and elasticity paired with a clear confidence and presence on her way to the class win.

Canada’s Beatrice Boucher placed second on Mystery with 69.559%, delivering a steady, harmonious test.

Catherine Malone on Opium SR placed third on 69.000%.

The uniquely colored 8-year-old Lusitano gelding by Guardião Do Penedo stood out in the lineup, producing a composed, accurate ride that put the pair firmly in the top three as one of the final competitors to complete their test.

 

ON FRIDAY evening, Erin Nichols on Elian Royale won the CDI-3* FEI Grand Prx, a qualifier for the Grand Prix Special, with a score of 67.087%.

Christopher Hickey on Stenagers Wyatt Earp, who scored 66.826% placed second, and Lauren Sammison Dow Jones 1 was third on a score of 65.087%.

Friday’s competition culminated with the highest-level class of the day: the CDI-W FEI Grand Prix.

A field of 13 sought to receive a qualifying score for what is perhaps the centerpiece event of Dressage at Devon: Saturday night’s CDI-W Grand Prix Freestyle.

Canadian riders dominated the class, securing the top two placings after more than a dozen impressive performances.

Camille Carier Bergeron on Finnländerin won on a score of 70.565%. 

Less than half a percentage point behind was Canada’s Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu on Jaccardo, who scored 70.174% for second.

The top-ranked American rider, Kevin Kohmann, finished third on Sonata MF with a score of 69.522%.
