The name Jack Stedding brought back childhood memories.
He spent a lot of time at my Mom and stepdad’s farm.
My stepdad was William McKinley Smith, not just William Mckinley as referenced in the article.
Better known in the show world and to countless riders/students as Linky Smith, who married my mother Peggy Pearce (Ensor) of Monkton, Md., in the late 50s.
Linky was a top H/J rider in his day, as was my mother.
He is a member of the Maryland Horse Show Association Hall of Fame.
Together they mentored many riders and quite a few that went on to make names for themselves. The late Joey Darby being just one besides Jack Stedding.
Would appreciate if you would correct my stepfather's name to show as William McKinley "Linky" Smith.
He was greatly respected in his day and there are still plenty of folks that I run into all these years later who talk fondly of him and my mother.
He was a good stepdad, too.
Many thanks,
Larry Ensor
