GLYNDON, Md.- Sheila Janney Williams, 86, of Glyndon, a longtime National Steeplechase Association owner, passed away peacefully on June 17 at age 86.
Williams, who campaigned horses under her own name and in partnership with others including Northwoods Stable and the late Andre Brewster, was also the mother-in-law of Hall of Fame trainer Jack Fisher, the husband of her daughter Sheila.
Sheila Janney Williams was born at Locust Hill Farm in 1937 and died there on June 17, 2023.
She lived a splendid life between this Worthington Valley Community and one in Northeast Harbor, Maine.
Her life was filled with so many pleasures provided by living an active outdoor life in both of these homes.
She was the devoted wife of the late Rufus M.G. Williams; beloved mother of Barbara W. Horneffer, Rufus M.G. Williams, Jr., Sheila W. Fisher and Richard J. Williams; cherished grandmother of six; dear sister of Barbara J. Trimble, Stuart S. Janney, Jr., and the late Sarah J. Rose.

In recognition of her love of home, horses, dogs, nature and a sporting life, the family invites friends to Locust Hill Farm on Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 2pm To 4 pm for memories and light refreshments.
