GILBERTSVILLE, Pa.--The excitement of taking a student into the show ring is real to any of us who have spent time teaching any level of rider.
Even more exciting is the realization that the rider has taken away a real education from your instruction.
Watching them navigate situations and solve problems on horseback or in the barn, and realizing that you have had a hand in making this, wonderful, up and coming horseman is everything.
Jessie Arrowsmith has spent her entire life in the barn being on both sides of the student-teacher relationship and loves that she has the opportunity to give that education and experience to the riders of all levels in her program.
And all levels are included!
Jessie runs a Mommy and Me and a Pony program for preschool aged children and their parent, which leads them right into a weekly lead line lesson program and it just grows from there.
Having coached middle school, high school and college IEA and IHSA teams, she is able to adapt and adjust her style to connect with all of her riders, enjoyably.
The program at Eclipse Equines, the facility and business built by her mother, Eleanor Hephner, is not your typical “mounting block to mounting block” experience.
All of the students are there multiple days per week and spend as much time learning horsemanship and care as they do on horseback.
They are developing responsibility, perseverance, problem solving, sportsmanship and more in addition to the knowledge they would need to safely be in the barn and handling horses.
The skills they are learning can help them in the show ring, out on a trail and through the rest of their lives.
Jessie teaches out of her family owned farm, Eclipse Equines, in Gilbertsville Pa.

Michael Henaghan, one of the greatest horseman of our time, has moved to our area.
His principles: Providing riders with an on-going, progressive and uniquely consistent schooling "know how" focusing on the basics of flatwork and using jumping exercises that educate and challenge riders.
Of particular emphasis is the use of the "motor", using hind legs during lateral work and "shaping the turn".
Mike makes a point of personal responsibility, encouraging each rider to "get the job done" with his signature discipline and good temperament.
During his 50 years of experience he has been associated with and coached some of the premier equestrians of our time.
Allison Firestone Robitaille, Beezie Patton Madden, Greg Best, Normal Dello Joio, Elise Haas who won both the USET Medal Finals and the ASPCA Maclay Regional Finals in her last junior year, and Ray Texel who won both the ASPCA Maclay and AHSA Medal Finals in the same year.
Texel was the youngest rider to win both national finals in the same year.
Out of the 12 finalists for berths on the 2000 Olympic Show Jumping Team, Michael had previously coached five.
We have the opportunity to be taught by the best.
Does anyone want to join in?
You can come to my place or Mike can come to you.
For All local trainers. Mike can come to your farm when you are away to keep your at home students going.
He is a trainer not tied to any farm.
Not interested in showing. He has a wealth of knowledge that we can all soak up.

At Thought Quest Solutions, I help equestrian athletes master their mental game, providing tools to overcome fear, build confidence, and handle competition stress.
My approach blends evidence based sport psychology concepts with a deep understanding of the unique demands of equestrian sports, ensuring a tailored solution for every rider.
Having navigated the challenges of competitive eventing and professional grooming, I’ve experienced firsthand the mental barriers riders face.
In fact, working with a mental coach as a young rider is part of what drew me to the profession.
Knowing the language and challenges of equestrian sports, I am able to connect with clients in a meaningful way, offering practical,
actionable strategies that can be utilized both in and out of the saddle.
Through virtual sessions, I address common hurdles such as post-fall anxiety, performance nerves, and balancing the mental pressures of training.
Whether you're preparing for your next competition or striving to enjoy your rides more, my goal is to help you develop mental resilience and reach your full potential.
Thought Quest Solutions is dedicated to helping riders at every level, from beginner to elite, gain the confidence to ride at their best.
By focusing on mindfulness, mental strength, and emotional recovery, you’ll be able to move past obstacles and enjoy a more fulfilling experience in the saddle.
You DO NOT need to be a competitor to benefit from my services.
My approach is individually tailored to your needs and goals.
I am also available for group mental toughness clinics in person or virtually.
Ride stronger. Ride smarter. Ride with confidence.
Let Thought Quest Solutions help you unlock the mental clarity you need to thrive in your equestrian journey.
