Jordan Coyle on For Gold won the Welcome Stake at Old Salem

NORTH SALEM, N.Y.--Jordan Coyle on For Gold won the $65,000 Welcome Stake during week two of the Old Salem Spring Horse Shows on Friday, May 15,

Going third to last, Coyle was clean in 35.87 seconds to win.

Coyle had previously won the 2025 Old Salem Farm Grand Prix among other events over the years.

“The horse was amazing,” Coyle said. “We came here with this class in mind for him. He’s always a very fast horse in the jump-off, so we kind of just do our own thing and leave it up to everyone else. I was lucky today; everybody was pretty close there."

“I’ll jump Ariso in the Grand Prix on Sunday," said Coyle. " Ariso was amazing last week and could’ve easily won the Welcome Stake and the Grand Prix if I’d have ridden him a little better. Now, I’m just going to try and not let him down on Sunday.”

Nicholas Dello Joio on Cornet's Cambridge was second, just a tenth of a second behind Coyle, finishing clean in 35.97, and McKayla Langmeier on Riesling Van De Gaathoeve was third, clean in 36.18.

OF THE nine clean in the jump-off, Daniel Bluman of Israel on Kester de Nyze Z was fourth in 36.55, Mark Bluman of Colombia on Genial de B'Neville was fifth in 37,14, and Dello Joio was also sixth in 37.30.

Earlier in the day, Bluman, in only his second time riding Inside Of My Heart, won the $25,000 1.45m Jumper Classic over eight in the jump-off from a starting field of 44 competitors, finishing clean in 32.089,

“My mare is super fast,” Bluman said. “I got the ride on her basically this week. Mario Deslauriers has done an unbelievable job producing her all the way to the top level, and I’m just getting to know her. We used this class exactly to do that. I wanted to press her buttons and see how much risk we could take, and it paid off. Actually, in the second-to-last fence, she helped me out. I was a bit lost on where I was going, and I found the jump right in front of me. I aimed for it as she jumped it. That ended up messing up my last line and slowed down our flow, but either way, she got the win."

“We’re very excited for this partnership,” he said. “The owners of this horse are doing everything they can to keep us at the top of the sport, so I’m very excited to start off this partnership with a win for them. I also have a set of new horses competing in the 4*, and I’m pretty pumped to see how these new partnerships build out through the rest of the summer.”

World #10 McLain Ward on Garfield was second, clean in 32.396 seconds, and Coyle on Dexterity Z  was third, clean in 33.027 seconds.
