Delaware Valley University has used horses for experiential learning since it’s foundation in 1896.
Today, our equine center has approximately 80 horses with a variety of breeds and backgrounds.
Students can learn how to care for, breed, manage, train and ride as part of DelVal’s equine program.
The program also offers opportunities to compete in hunt seat, dressage, carriage driving, vaulting and westering riding.
Students are drawn to DelVal’s program because the stables are right on campus within walking distance from the dorm rooms.
In the Equine Science Center, the program has riding and driving horses and in the Breeding Center, the program has broodmares, foals and stallions.
Students are in the barn from day one and able to take classes in and work hands-on with the horses in both centers as part of their core curriculum, as electives and as part-time employees.
The equine program is comprised of two majors: a Bachelor of Science in Equine Science and a Bachelor of Science in Equine Management.
Each offers specializations in areas such as equine breeding, equine business management, equine assisted therapies, media and communication and pre-veterinary.
These specializations allow students to explore the area of the equine industry that is most interesting to them and learn about career opportunities available to them upon graduation.
“It’s really important to us that students understand how many job opportunities there are in the equine industry. All of our students in the equine department love horses and they wanted to work with horses when they leave here,” said Dr. Cory Kieschnick, chair of the Equine Science and Management Department.
Thanks to DelVal’s award-winning Experience360 (E360) Program, 100% of students graduate with hands-on experience in their field.
When graduates apply to jobs, they have resumes and portfolios highlighting the work they’ve already done and are able to step right into roles.
In fact, graduates from the equine program consistently have job offers before graduation.

Each design series is meant to look different, capturing a certain breed, pose and motion, in a raised relief with very fine detail.
Once cast, the design is sandblasted clean and the finishing process begins.
And, no, the molds do not last forever.
A buckle design with a belt was even presented to Ingrid Klimke during the event, which she proudly wore for her "Master Class" on Thursday eve.
