Inle won the Open Timber at the Mount Harmon-Wicomico Point-to-Point

EARLEVILLE, Md.--Willy Dowling saddled Inle to win the $2,500 Wicomico Hunt Cup Open Timber st the Mount Harmon-Wicomico Point-to-Point on Sunday, April 14.

Kiplin Hall's Inle, ridden by Dan Nevin, won the 3 mile Open Timber over Hey Teacher (GB), trained by Kathy Neilson, finishing in 6:14, by far the fastest time of the day.

Inle has had a varied career and is now going on to yet another new job.

"I've had Inle for quite a while," said Dowling. "Jay Griswold owns him, and he sent him to Buck Davidson for a while. Buck competed him in Eventing, and he got as far as two star competitions. Then he came back to us, and he was leased to amateur Whitney Schweizer. She won the Maiden Timber here at Wicomico last year. Now he's won at Wicomico for the second time. He'll probably go on to be a foxhunter now."

"They try to do a really good job at Wicomico," said Dowling. "They had a good crowd with a lot of tail-gsters."

Fit for a King, owned by Runnymoore Racing, trained by Leslie Young and ridden by Freddie Procter, won the first timber race, the $1,500 H. Brooks Durkee Memorial Trophy Maiden Timber, over Glencarrib Sky (Ire), trained by Kathy Neilson, finishing in 6:26.

 

CITY OF GRACE, owned by Dovefield Farm and trained and ridden by Casey Pinkard, won the Lady Rider Timber as the only finisher in the four horse race.

Brave Deacon, trained by Joe Davies and ridden by his daughter /Scarlet, was off course while Billy Meister's two entries, Pleasecallmeback and Itsknownasthebern, both refused a fence and didn't finish.

There were three flat aces, with Mischief Afoot, owned by KSN Racing, trained by Neilson and ridden by Hunter Holm, winning the first, the Allaire duPoint Amateur/Apprentice Flat race over AC Expressway, trained by Betty McCue.

The Mill Cup Amateur/Apprentice Rider Flat race, was split into two sections.

Morning March, owned and trained by Alexander Gordon-Watson and ridden by Felix Astudillo, won the first section over Westerland (GB), trained by Neilson.

Some Are True, owned by Joy Slater, trained by Edward Graham and ridden by Jesus Saucedo, won the second section over Sir John Monash (GB), trained by Young.

The meet began with pony races at 10:15, all of which had full entries.

Cami Kern on Hoof Heated won the Small Pony Flat over a field of seven while Abby Taylor on Spur of the Moment won the Medium Pony Flat over a field of five and Yomar Ortiz jr. on Class Day won the Large Pony Flat over a field of four.

Manuel Aguilera on Thumper won the Lead Line Trot race over a field of five.

There were four Junior Masters Chase races, with Kern on Mallory winning the Small  Pony, Ortiz on Blueberry winning the Medium Pony, and Jaidyn Shore on Janneydancer winning the Large Pony as well as the Horse on Railmaster.
